The project management body of knowledge (PMBOK guide) 5th Edition explained the main phases of a project they are generally forty-five logically grouped project management processes, but are categorized into five process groups: initiating, planning, executing, monitoring and controlling, and finally closing. The Dyn Attack showed all five processes in play. There was a clear understanding of the scope of the attack: Dyn, then a serious planning was in place since attacks went up in scale and geographical implication from East to West to global, execution was the reason it had this much media coverage even if it was for only one day. The monitoring and controlling phase of the PMBOK show in the form of the continuous fight, although the Network Operations Center at Dyn were fighting back using all their mitigation techniques the attackers kept launching attacks in waves suggesting they are monitoring the responses form Dyn NOCs. The closing phase of the PMBOK is not necessary because the goal is not to close the project and let the victim deal with it. Eventually the attacks ended the same day.
